Bacchus in Newcastle
This is a drinking man's pub, and a bit of a secret at that.
The pub is situated on the quieter side of High Bridge street across the road from a very nice coffee shop called "Pani"
Bacchus is a large pub with lots of seating and everything is centred through the u shaped bar that hits you as you walk through the door. There is some seating in a lounge area to the left as you walk in and also to the rear of the bar there is a raised seating area.
If you just want to have a good drink and a bit of chat with the older generation of geordies probably about the football you have come to the right place.
Pints are cheap and the banter is excellent but don't let this pub slow down your weekend, some times it is like entering Last of the Summers Wine in Newcastle.
Other bars in the city centre are:
We have put they into a few different sections:
- Cheezy
- Locals Favorite aka "our faves"
- A little bit special
- The best cocktails
- The late bars
- Night clubs
Not all bars will be in this list only the ones that I as a local will recommend. Keep following the page for more choices to help you pick your bar destination. On this page we will give you our honest opinion of some of the night spots in town, all with a special stag night juiciness rating.
Newcastle has a massive number of bars, late bars and night clubs depending on your taste and mood. They range from the the cheeziest in the country to others winning bar of the year award.
So you can see why we have produced this short nightclub guide. Newcastle its self is very small in size so all bars are in walking distance from and each other, but it all depends on what you want.
